On Aug 3, I attended the IWMM 2018 and had a presentation (Homotopy method of fundamental solutions for solving steady Navier-Stokes equations, by Chia-Cheng Tsai). After the conference, I have a deep collobration with Prof. Jakub Grabski.
In this study, a quadtree-adaptive viscous numerical wave tank in which the free surface is resolved by the volume of fluid method is established to solve Bragg resonance caused by Stokes and cnoidal waves. Numerical wavemakers of third-order cnoidal and fifth-order Stokes waves are implemented. Additionally, a numerical damping zone is implemented such that the numerical grid in that area is automatically coarsened under a prescribed low resolution in which the time-matching is more efficient without an excessively small time-step.
Congratulate to Prof. Wei. Our paper of Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering is online. A data-driven prediction model using numerical solutions is proposed for forecasting wave heights along shipping routes during hurricanes. The developed model can be used to determine the wave heights on a ship’s trajectory, considering a short time step of a ship’s operation.
On Oct 11, Prof Kuo Yu-Shu visited our department. He is one of the leader for the development of offshore wind farm in Taiwan. During the visiting, he gave a talk about offshore wind farm.
On Oct 19, I attended the ACMT 2017 and had a presentation (Using a Meshless Numerical Method for Solving Navier-Stokes Equation with Traction Boundary Conditions, by Chia-Cheng Tsai, Bing-Han Lin, Bang-Fuh Chen) in the MS: Advance and Application in Meshfree (Meshless) Methods, which is oraginated by Judy P. Yang, Chia-Ming Fan, and Pai-Chen Guan.
I attended the TREFFTZ/MFS conference in Poznan, Poland, July 4-9, 2017.
